Off Road Fun
If you enjoy dirt bikes, ATV's, rock crawling or just about any type of off road vehicle, then you need to check out Moon Rocks. The area located in the Hungry Valley Recreation Area. It's located north of Reno/Sparks, Nevada. Head north on Pyramid Hwy 445 about 18 miles to Winnemuca Ranch Rd. Turn left (north) and continue on to the dirt road approximately 5 miles. About 1 mile ahead there is a (small) sign to the entrance on the left (just past a HUGE alfalfa field). Head up the dirt road to the 1st staging area. There a few more if you continue up the road. RV's, campers, trailers, tents, whatever you have are FREE to enter. The area is large, open, high desert terrain with lots of roads and trails to accommodate all types of off road vehicles. However, there are NO amenities such as water, services (sometimes there are sani-huts) or shade! The area is hot and dusty so be prepared. There are miles and miles of riding including hill climbs, rocks, motocross tracks, jumps, scenic trails and maintained roads. The area is nothing short of fun. Easy to get to and stores along the way or close by if need be. The best part it's FREE! Come and join the fun. See ya there. |
